CURA Strategies | Public Relations and Communications Intern

Arlington, VA | August 2020 - Present

  • Authored social media posts on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram for multiple clients and the agency itself then used Hootsuite to schedule them

Warren for President | Campaign Volunteer and Campus Ambassador

  • Served as a campus ambassador at UNC-Chapel Hill during the week leading up to Super Tuesday, committing to performing high traffic canvassing every day to get out the vote

  • Called up to 100 potential voters across the country weekly, registered people to vote, recruited campaign volunteers and mobilized support for the campaign

  • Canvassed in Des Moines, Iowa the day of the caucus to help with last-minute get out the caucus efforts

Lead for America | Communications Assistant

  • Served as the communications team’s digital relations lead, being the individual primarily responsible for managing the organization's online presence

  • Drafted content for social media platforms, identified opportunities for engagement, brainstormed and pitched social campaign ideas, created social media graphics consistent with company branding and monitored social media analytics

  • Read 10+ news articles per week then wrote captions for Facebook posts sharing them

  • Started a social media campaign that profiled the organization's interns, created a Google Form with questions to get to know them, compiling their answers into one document and designing an LFA-branded profile photo frame to put on their headshots

Institute of International Relations, Prague | Public Relations Intern 

Prague, Czech Republic | June 2018 - July 2018

  • Interned in a foreign country for eight weeks as part of a study abroad program

  • Planned, executed, promoted and oversaw major events hosted by the Institute on a weekly basis, such as conferences, summits, talks and research presentations

  • Created outputs for the Institute’s social media accounts, proofread articles for its website and wrote reports summarizing events 

  • Regularly updated the English versions of the email newsletter and information sent to the press to reflect the most current information about researchers and their projects

Leadership and Involvement

Phi Beta Chi Sorority | Public Relations Chair 

November 2018 - February 2020

  • Crafted posts for and managed the sorority’s social media accounts on Instagram, Twitter and VSCO as well as a Facebook Page

  • Converted the sorority's Instagram account from a personal account to a business profile

  • Designed and created promotional materials such as flyers, graphics, Snapchat filters and Instagram story templates in order to increase turnout for philanthropy events and recruit new members using social media

  • Created and promoted Facebook events throughout the year, learning to utilize Facebook advertising as a promotion method

  • Asked to extend term for an additional three months in order to run communication and social media outreach with alumnae for the chapter's 20th anniversary gala

Phi Beta Chi Sorority | Recruitment Director

November 2018 - January 2020

  • Brought in the largest new member class for the sorority in over two years during fall 2019 recruitment, increasing the chapter's size by 37%

  • Recruited potential new members by keeping in close contact with them, answering questions and publicizing the positive benefits of joining a sorority

  • Planned and executed recruitment events, which involved finding locations, contacting vendors and planning activities then setting up, overseeing and cleaning up the events to ensure that everything went smoothly 

  • Managed and stayed within a $2,000 budget each semester

Projects

Communications Coordinator for Vote Fearless NC

  • Devised and implemented a communications strategy on a voter protection initiative intended to combat voter intimidation that gained bipartisan support from over 100 endorsers

  • Created a spreadsheet of information on mayors throughout the state and contacted them to ask for their endorsement on the project

  • Developed a social media strategy to promote the organization via Twitter

Iowa Caucus Researcher at the Hussman School of Journalism and Media

  • Selected as one of ten students to attend the 2020 Iowa Caucuses to study how identity and news consumption shape political views and campaign appeals by interviewing voters, caucus-goers and rally attendees

Student PR Consultant for the Carolina Hurricanes 

  • Worked with a team of five other students in a mini PR firm on a semester-long project to develop a PR plan to achieve the client's goal of increasing millennial brand engagement and game attendance

  • Conducted primary research for the client by surveying over 300 people, interviewing students and moderating focus groups

Student PR Consultant for Carolina Kickoff 

  • Accumulated 30 hours of work for the client throughout the semester to ultimately produce a portfolio of PR materials for the organization to use in their outreach efforts 

  • Assisted with the creation of the organization’s LinkedIn page and composing post templates for the page itself and for the organization's members to utilize

  • Collaborated with a team of other students to conduct a communication audit, comprehensively analyze all communication efforts, conduct a SWOT analysis and provide recommendations for future publicity efforts

  • Worked with a group of classmates to produce a published report analyzing the history and current usability of political advertising databases across social media platforms
