About Me

WHO I AM

I’m Talia Wlcek (will-check), a twenty-something aspiring communications professional, content creator, native North Carolinian, American history enthusiast, proud Tar Heel and occasional blogger. Some of my favorite things are writing, talking politics and listening to true crime podcasts.

In May of 2020, I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a double major in Media and Journalism and Politics Science, plus a minor in Business Administration. I've been absolutely obsessed with all things political ever since I was first introduced to the subject in my 10th grade civics class, making a degree in Political Science an obvious choice for me. I also love writing so much that I actually declared my Media and Journalism major after spending a semester in all business classes (my previous major) and not having to write a single paper for any of them. I couldn't bear to go the rest of my college career without expressing my thoughts and analysis through written words, so I figured a major in journalism would be a great fit. My specialization within this major was public relations, which I chose because I love the idea of advocating for and shaping the perception of an entire brand. â€‹

I aspire to use my education and interests to pursue a career in public affairs or political communication. I'm passionate about progressive politics, fighting for what's right and helping elect members of traditionally underrepresented groups in politics. I have experience on campaigns, in voter outreach, doing in-house and agency communications, with advocacy campaigns, working in the nonprofit sector and in academic research. I'm a woman with varied interests who loves learning new things in every new role I take on.
